What is skin pigmentation?
Skin pigmentation basically known  as physiological state which there is an
increase in the production of melanin pigment.

This pigment is responsible for your skin tone. However, the higher production of it causes dark pigments on
your skin.

What Are The Causes Of Skin Pigmentation?
There are many factors cause pigmentation, like the following list:
i.  Skin inflammation caused by sun exposure
ii.  Allergic reaction
iii.  Excessive Medication
iv.  Skin injury
v.  Hormonal changes
vi.  Facial hair removal in appropriate way

However, the most common are the: DNA and the genes that people get from their parents determine their skin tone according to the amount of melanin it contains.

However, skin pigmentation can occur due to non-genetic features such as UV exposure from the sun and from
tanning booths, or because of using skincare products like cleansers or peelings.
Melisma can also lead to pigmentation problems.

In such cases, the skin pigmentation issue is almost always caused by production of either too much or too little melanin.

It occurs as a result of hormonal influences on pregnant women
most of the cases and causes dark and irregularly shaped areas on different parts of the body specially the face.

Pigment spots like age spots are occurred by sun exposure. Therefore, they
appear mainly on face, hands and arms. They tend to be small, darkened patches
of skin.
Post-inflammatory pigmentation happened when a skin is injured and cause a flat area of discoloration. It’s commonly found among acne sufferers, and can also be caused by cosmetic procedures, ex: laser treatment and chemical peels.

Skin Pigmentation Treatments
The treatment of skin pigmentation varies, some of them can be treated
medically by specialized clinics, with certain procedures.

While age spots and dark spots on the face that are caused by sun exposure are usually responsive to laser treatment, melasma does not seem to fade with laser treatment and may only absorb the light and grow darker.

Dermatological treatments
Chemical peels process: the specialist apply a certain acid to the face or hands to remove the surface layers of the skin, which will cause the skin to peel off,
revealing new and smooth skin.
Laser therapies: considered to be more accurate, as the dermatologist has more
control over intensity level of the treatment with laser. The lowest treatments
work just on the skin surface layer, while more higher treatments affect the skin
layers in depth.

As consequence, dermatological treatments provide good results, but at the same time they are expensive and cost a lot amount of money.
